Collins Industrial Distributors were one of the first companies in Australia to launch a web site exclusively tailored to the industrial supply industry that allowed for online ordering for retail and account customers. Account customers needed to register first, we approved them as a customer and set them up into a discount structure and applied relevant freight options.

This whole direction has proved very successful with Collins Industrial Distributors winning major new accounts by providing an easier way for companies to view our extensive product range of industrial equipment, tools and supplies information and to place orders online.

With tens of thousands of industrial products available, online catalogue management was becoming difficult so Collins Industrial Distributors investigated ways of automating the process. In doing so, Collins Industrial Distributors also opened another channel for customers to manage their accounts online while allowing accurate and timely updates for our wide range of products.

Collins Industrial Distributors engaged Australian ecommerce specialist Strategic Ecommerce Pty Ltd to build an application that would gather product information from a variety of our suppliers, allow us to modify this information if required and make it available through our web site. With this automation now in place and accuracy of product information, we will be promoting the use of our web site to our entire customer base.

Our web site was built on the StraightSELL platform and supports OCI, OBI and cXML eprocurement messages. Collins Industrial Distributors currently trades online with a number of government and corporate customers who have implemented eprocurement systems.

Our web site is integrated with our Attache accounting system so any orders placed online will be directly inputted into there without any manual data entry.
